A Great Start

We have finished our first week together and I'm sure every child is ready for a rest. I continue to be amazed at their bravery in trying new things, as well as how well each child handled learning our routines, going to Art, Music, Phys. Ed., Computers and Spanish class, conquering the lunch line and recess, and the sometimes chaotic dismissal time. It's really hard to believe they are only five years old. Every parent should be beaming with pride. Here's hoping week two is as awesome as week one!
This week, we took the letters of our names and put them together like a puzzle. We learned that we place the letters from left to right, just like on our name-tags. We then counted the number of letters, and used the chart to show how many letters our friends' names had as well.
One of the stories we read this week was If You Take a Mouse to School by Laura Numeroff. The class made mice and we talked about our favorite parts of school.

We started our Word Work time by focusing on the letter F and the sound is makes. We made "F" books and used the SMART board to practice writing capital letter F.

What a great week to play outside!
